Bitzer Open Screw Compressors
Open
Open-drive screw compressors are available for (H)CFC/HFC refrigerants and for ammonia. With their high cooling capacity, they’re suitable for industrial applications and marine refrigeration systems. They can be operated with commercially available standard motors attached via standard couplings and coupling housings. A special model is available for use in explosion protection zones.
For NH3 Systems
OSKA95 series
With the newly developed OSKA95 series, BITZER is extending its established series of open-drive screw compressors (OS) for use in industrial applications such as ammonia-based refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pumps. This series combines proven BITZER quality with high flexibility in use. Typical applications are MT and LT refrigerated distribution warehouses, shock freezers, process liquid chillers and for ice rinks. The IQ MODULE is contained on-board as standard and ensures that the compressor is comprehensively protected as well as allowing the compressor to communicate with a superior system controller – for example, via Modbus.
Owing to its compact design and the optionally available coupling housing, OSKA95 screw compressors are easy to integrate into new systems and for use in conversions of existing systems.
With six models covering the range from 535 to 1,015 m³/h at 2,900 rpm, with R717 the OSKA95 series offers a cooling capacity of approximately 200 to 400 kW for low temperature applications, and when operating as a heat pump it has a heating capacity of approximately 750 to 1,500 kW per compressor. The capacity range can be extended by operating compressors in parallel. Eco mode is possible as an option.
All of the models offer good security of investment, they are easy to commission and their integrated communications interfaces make servicing quick and easy.

BITZER’s open screw compressors for use with NH₃ have been proving their worth on the market for many years. We offer these robust and efficient solutions for use on their own and in parallel operation with several compressors and a shared oil separator. The combination of open compressor and external standard motors makes the series exceptionally flexible and allows operation at different supply voltages. BITZER has the appropriate couplings and coupling housing as accessories in its portfolio, making it safe and easy to combine compressors with external standard motors. A significant improvement: the refrigerant circuit and electrical drive are separate, making maintenance and repair much simpler. To complement the open OS.A screw compressors, we’ve developed a complete portfolio of tried-and-tested accessories for use in large-scale commercial and industrial NH₃ refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
The OS.A95103 compressor marks the beginning of the new OS.95 series. The strengths of this new development include large volume flows up to 1,015 m³/h at 2,900 revolutions per minute, integrated control electronics, an optimised slider concept for seamlessly adjustable capacity control and Vi adjustment for maximum efficiency at every operating point.

OSHA SERIES
The new OSHA74 is available for higher saturation suction temperatures and higher saturation discharge temperatures. Its approval up to tc = +60°C allows this compressor to be used as a high-temperature heat pump. The compressor can therefore generate water temperatures of up to +55°C.

OSKAB compressors are specially developed for the low-temperature stage of NH₃ booster refrigeration systems and have proven their exceptional performance in large-scale commercial and industrial applications many times over. In conjunction with OSKA compressors for the high-temperature stage, a single NH₃ refrigeration system can, for instance, accommodate low and medium temperature applications – for a simple, compact and cost-efficient solution.

OSKB compressors are primarily used at the low-temperature stage of booster refrigeration systems. Thanks to their unique design, they’ve gained a great deal of trust among large-scale commercial and industrial users. In conjunction with OSK compressors for the high-temperature stage, a single refrigeration system can, for instance, accommodate low and medium temperature applications – for a simple, compact and cost-efficient solution.
